About PTFS Europe

PTFS Europe has a vision to make technology easy for libraries. We focus on enabling library users through high-quality, open-source software solutions. Our way of working is characterised by listening, finding solutions, reliable delivery and above all open communication. Our highly skilled team has a friendly and approachable style in delivering our quality implementation and support services.

We proudly work with customers across all UK library sectors, including public, academic, health, governmental, museum, law and special libraries. The reason so many customers continue to choose us is that we solve problems, we don’t sell software. When libraries join us as a customer, they are gaining the expertise of our developers, trainers, data migration experts, and experienced account managers to support them throughout the journey. As an ISO27001 accredited company, you can also rely on the quality and integrity of the support we’re providing.

Press Release

East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) has partnered with PTFS Europe to launch Aspen Discovery as its new library catalogue.

Aspen Discovery is a web-based system that works on any device and provides easy access for library users to discover books, e-books, magazines, board games and more. Patrons can also renew items on loan, reserve items and find new content from library sources and external websites.

PTFS Europe has implemented the new system and will provide ongoing hosting and support services to EDLC to ensure its success in supporting these collections into the future.

This Valentine’s Day, EDLC invited their patrons to fall in love with the new look Library Online in this EDLC-Culture Facebook post.

Aspen Discovery

Designed around the users’ browsing experience, this open source and highly featured discovery tool integrates the library catalogue, e-content, photographic libraries, websites, open access databases and more, bringing all library resources together via a single search.

Aspen Discovery provides complete integration with an organisation’s underlying library management system and eContent providers, while also offering administrators a high degree of custom configuration.

The library can create curated collections, placards and collection spotlights to highlight specific areas of interest and direct the users to additional resources. In addition to all of this, Aspen Discovery also offers web builder functionality which allows the library to use the system to easily create their own web presence.

Fiona Borthwick, Head of Sales and Account Management at PTFS Europe said:

“We are proud of our longstanding partnership with EDLC, which began in 2011. Their recent adoption of Aspen Discovery marks an exciting expansion of their PTFS Europe hosted and supported solutions. Aspen Discovery transforms how library members discover and engage with the library resources, offering an intuitive and feature-rich experience. Its powerful capabilities will enable EDLC to showcase their collections and services more effectively, maximising user engagement.

We look forward to supporting EDLC libraries as they continue to discover the capabilities of Aspen Discovery to enhance their library service and deliver an exceptional member experience. ”
