This year Open Fifth introduced a Payroll Giving scheme, providing all UK-based team members with a new way to make monthly donations to charities of their choice. Administered through Payroll Giving in Action, this approach gives charities regular, predictable funding and is an efficient way for staff to donate tax-free to the causes important to them. Open Fifth as a company are also matching each monthly donation up to £10, proudly supporting the organisations the team members choose and extending their generosity.
In recognition of this, we have received the ‘Gold APGO Payroll Giving Quality Mark for 2025’, presented by Charities Trust. Find out more about the award.
From the team:
“I’m using Payroll Giving to support a small animal rescue through a monthly donation. With increasing costs and surges in animals being given up, it’s reassuring to know that the impact of my donation is amplified through Open Fifth’s matched giving, and it took only minutes to set up!” – Lauren
“I support the Alzheimer’s Society with my payroll giving because my grandmother had Alzheimer’s and my dad was diagnosed with it a little over 2 years ago. I like that the Society doesn’t just support the people with Alzheimer’s but their carers too. I know that my mum is going to benefit from the support too.” – Helen
Andrew Auld, Financial Director at Open Fifth, introduced the scheme and had this to share:
“I remember at the very start of my career, in a large international company, thinking it was a great thing that they supported payroll giving but thought it was perhaps something only available to a corporation. Though at Open Fifth, charitable giving has always been part of our corporate culture and we commit a portion of our profits every year to charities selected by our employees, we hadn’t looked at payroll giving until earlier this year. Since launching the scheme, we are delighted by the response from our employees and we are very pleased to be able to match their donations. Supporting local and national charities is very much in line with our values and I would really encourage leaders of any organisation to look into such a scheme as a way to make a positive change.”
Here at Open Fifth, we often speak about our values, they underlie our every decision, informing the way we choose to do business and how we use our resources. As part of our corporate social responsibility approach, Open Fifth is committed to donating a minimum of 5% of company profits each year to charities. We’ve also made donations on behalf of speakers at our events and undertaken pro bono work for charitable organisations.
